Last year, WhatsApp began supporting passkeys on Android devices. On iOS, WhatsApp is currently rolling out passkey functionality. You must have an iPhone 8 or later model running iOS 16 or later in order to set up a passkey.
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, has announced that it is rolling out passkey support for iOS, meaning that users of iPhones will no longer have to cope with the inconvenience of SMS-based two-factor verification. For those who don’t know, WhatsApp last year supported passkeys on Android devices.
“Passkeys are rolling out now on iOS a more secure (and easier!) way to log back in with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode,” the firm announced on X (previously Twitter).
To confirm that it’s you using a passkey, you may use Touch ID, Face ID, or your device passcode.
You can use the passkey during registration in instead of an SMS. It is significant to note that you require an iPhone 8 or later model running iOS 16 or higher in order to set up a passkey.
