Using Your PC to Have Conversations with Snapchat for the Web
With the addition of calls and messages to its list of features, Snapchat now enables online communication. In an effort to compete directly with WhatsApp, Snapchat for the Web offers a comparable experience. Here are some specifics.
Snapchat Can Now Be Used on the Web
Snapchat users may now make video/audio conversations from their computers using Google Chrome and even pick up where they left off in a discussion while using the app’s mobile versions, according to Snap Inc. Additionally, you will be able to transmit Snaps, which has always been the main focus of the photo-sharing app. This can be done by visiting web.snapchat.com.
Snapchat, via a blog post, says, “With more than 100 million Snapchatters using our voice and video calling each month on average, we’re excited to offer a new way for our community to keep conversations going on their computers, where they’re already working, learning, and browsing.“
It will also enable chat features like Chat Reactions and Chat Reply on the online version. Additionally, the well-known AR Lenses, which are a Snapchat trademark, will soon be accessible online as well.
There is one challenging circumstance, though. Those who subscribe to Snapchat+, its recently established subscription tier, will have access to this capability. You will have access to exclusive features through this membership model, like the opportunity to pin your closest friends and see how frequently a Story has been seen. Go here for more information on Snapchat+.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Snapchat for the Web is accessible in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. We don’t know when this will expand to new areas or if it will always be a paid service.
Having said that, it seems like the Snapchat+ subscription service is a real attempt to compete with services like Telegram Premium and even WhatsApp Premium, and we hope to hear more about this soon. It will be interesting to watch how this paid tier performs and if it can draw in at least a handful of the 332 million daily active users!
