On December 5, 2023, Rockstar Games published the first trailer for the highly anticipated GTA 6 / GTA VI game. The next Grand Theft Auto game will be released in 2025. We previously reported that the GTA VI trailer sparked so much enthusiasm among GTA fans that it received over 90 million views in the first 24 hours of its release. According to Guinness World Records, this trailer smashed three YouTube records within 24 hours of its debut.
According to Guinness World Records, GTA VI’s premiere trailer became the most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, with 90,421,491 views.
The GTA 6 teaser received 8.9 million likes in its first 24 hours, making it the most-liked video game clip on YouTube to date.
Outside of the gaming realm, it surpassed MrBeast’s “Every Country On Earth Fights For $250,000” video, which previously held the record for the most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours (non-music).
The GTA VI teaser begins with the introduction of Lucia, a female character dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit. She is reportedly planning to conduct crimes with her lover after she is released from jail. The emphasis on Lucia in the trailer suggests that she may be the game’s protagonist.
Rockstar Games stated in a press statement that GTA VI will be released in 2025 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The press release also included a brief synopsis of the future game. “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet,” according to Rockstar Games.
