Over 1.2 million ransomware assaults are reportedly carried out each month. Who is impacted in total?

According to a research, the number of ransomware threats discovered increased to almost 1.2 million each month between January and June.

Cybersecurity experts at Barracuda Networks have found and examined 106 widely reported ransomware outbreaks over the course of the last 12 months.

They discovered that education, municipalities, healthcare, infrastructure, and finance continue to be the top five target industries.

Additionally, the number of service providers that have experienced a ransomware attack has increased, according to researchers.

“Attackers using ransomware continue to be resolute and carry on with their extortion operations. There has never been a bigger need for proper security solutions due to the ongoing evolution of ransomware and other cyberthreats “said Parag Khurana, Barracuda Networks India’s country manager.

The data revealed that ransomware assaults on educational institutions more than quadrupled, while attacks on the healthcare and finance verticals tripled, while attacks on municipalities just marginally rose.

In order to get access to larger organizations, many hackers attack small firms. According to the research, regardless of the size of a firm, security providers must provide products that are simple to use and deploy.

Though most ransomware assaults go unnoticed.

The assaults are frequently complex and very challenging for small firms to handle, and many victims opt not to reveal when they are attacked, according to the research.
