A 17-year-old young man was taken into custody as part of a UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit investigation on suspicion of hacking Rockstar Games, which resulted in a significant Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI leak.
The suspected hacker may also have been engaged in an incursion on the ride-hailing service Uber, according to the claims.
Matthew Keys, a well-known writer, tweeted, “@CityPolice confirm 17-year-old arrested over hacking incident; source claims the crime is tied to incursion on Rockstar Games and perhaps Uber Technologies.”
This month, Uber has laid the latest cyberattack on its internal systems at the feet of the notorious Lapsus$ hacker organisation.
Additionally, Uber has stated that “there are accusations that the same actor violated video game developer Rockstar Games.”
Meanwhile, 90 GTA VI videos showing the game’s engine, gameplay, and other aspects from an early development build were leaked as a consequence of Rockstar Games’ acknowledged “network intrusion.” The leak gave fans a look at how GTA 6 was being developed, and also verified earlier rumours about the game’s Vice City location and first female protagonist.
The game, originally known as GTA 6, has amassed a record-breaking 170 million sales to date and will be the first mainline release since 2013’s GTA V.
