MediaTek just introduced a new chipset to the market, this time for mid-range devices. This is the brand-new MediaTek Dimensity 8300. In certain aspects, the Dimensity 8300 is identical to MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9300 processor. It is also a direct competition to the previously revealed Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor.
An octa-core CPU powers the Mediatek Dimensity 8300 chipset. The Mali-G615 MC6 GPU is housed in this latest Mediatek chipset. The chipset’s RAM speed capability has been increased from 6400MHz to 8300MHz.
MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC specifications
The Mediatek Dimensity 8300 chipset features an octa-core CPU with four ARM Cortex-A715 cores and four ARM Cortex-A510 cores. The Dimensity 8300 is built using TSMC’s second generation 4nm technology. According to the business, the new processor delivers a 20% performance gain and consumes 30% less power than its predecessor.
Moving on to the GPU, the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU is included in this latest Mediatek chipset. This results in a 60% boost in performance while consuming 55% less power.
It’s the AI age, and with that in mind, MediaTek has unveiled a new specialised APU 780 AI processor. This enables generative AI models with up to 10 billion parameters to operate on the device itself.
Following that, the chipset’s RAM speed support has been increased from 6400MHz to 8300MHz. This suggests that multitasking can result in a 33% improvement. Furthermore, the chipset supports the more sophisticated UFS 4.0.
It also supports 4K video capture at 60 frames per second, which is equivalent to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. MediaTek has also launched a new function that will allow users to simultaneously capture 4K HDR films on two cameras. In addition, consumers get flagship-level video noise reduction and an AI-Color Content Smart ISP.
For gamers, the Mediatek Dimensity 8300 chipset supports MediaTek’s ‘Adaptive Game Technology 2.0’ as well as Modem Express 2.0.
